Frizinghall Primary School

Religious Education

RE

Religious Education is an important part of weekly lessons at Frizinghall Primary. From the Early Years to year 6, pupils are provided with the foundations for understanding about beliefs and values. RE gives pupils an understanding of Christianity, Islam and other world faiths and non-religious beliefs.

Religious Education Curriculum:

The syllabus is based around six threads or ‘pathways’ through which the most important features of RE may be understood.

The syllabus therefore aims to:

  • develop progressive understanding of the ‘pathways’
  • build rich knowledge of religions/worldviews.

During RE lessons pupils learn about different faiths, showing respect and tolerance.

Parents/carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE.

At Frizinghall, pupils get the opportunity to visit places of worship. We have already established links with The Bradford New Church, St. Margaret’s Church, Jamiyat Tabligh-Ul-Islam and Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara.

Collective Worship:

Pupils at Frizinghall Primary participate in a daily act of collective worship (assembly). Once a week, all pupils participate in an assembly to celebrate their own faith. We are pleased to offer a Muslim faith assembly, Christian assembly, Hindu assembly and Non-faith assembly.
